11/3/2008· We are doing a master bathroom renovation, and I am not sure if I should run a new 3/4" line from our hot water tank to the bathroom to get improved water flow / pressure. Our line in from the street is 3/4", and then from our water tank, we branch out with 1/2" lines throughout the house.
14/11/2010· Just for refrence: 2" sch. 40 pvc will have a pressure loss of approx. 3.25 PSI in 100 feet, with an acceptable water velocity around 6 fps. You can push a lot more GPM through it, but the loss will be higher, and when you imply continuous flow, unless it is an "emergency" you don''t want the velocity over about 6.5 or 7.
It''s not just the weight of the hose: a 3/8" x 300 ft. hose will hold 16# of water, 28# with 1/2" and 60# on 3/4". Dragging a 3/4" hose around all day gets old! 1/2" seems to be the preferred choice. The spray gun or nozzle should attach to the hose with a live swivel and offer a variable spray pattern.
